Snehwan started with 18 children but now has taken in 80 children. Fifty of the 80 have been adopted by Snehwan. Through a program called “Vanchitgram” Snehwan has taken complete educational responsibility for 30 children belonging Nandi samaj who gather garbage and recyclable scraps and discards. The work of Baba Amate, Swami Vivekananda, Karmavir Bhaurao Patil and Savitribai Phule was the inspiration for 29 year old Ashok and 24 year old Archana to start Snehwan. Archana is a mother to all the children at Snehwan looking after their studies, food and caring for them during their illnesses. Ashok’s parents left their home and farm to help them at Snehwan. Snehwan strives to provide the children a loving and supportive family while instilling socially responsibility and awareness.
